They came out great.I did buy Spectrum Organic Vegetable Shortening. These are way better and way healthier then pork lard. Ewww! They were also so easy to make, my 6 year old son & I have a ball making them. Thanks for sharing!

I advise always rolling them out by hand. I've broken a couple of tortilla presses trying to do flour tortillas in them. They are best saved for making corn tortillas.

Just my experience.

Hi Dan

There are organic veggie shortenings available that are much healthier than the processed stuff. And lard is definitely an option. Just depends on an individuals diet and health requirements.
Have you made tortillas? If so, I'd love to have the recipe you use!

Can't believe anyone still believes that vegetable shortening with all its transfats is healthier than lard! Or has there been some new information that I haven't heard about? If you'd like to stay away from animal fat, there's always coconut oil or palm oil. Saturated oils, true, but not artificial.
