Last week, I had the opportunity to interview and share a beer with Jeff Delkin, Co-Founder of bambu, a Renewable Ideas Company. Jeff, together with his wife, Rachel Speth, have created something remarkable with bambu.
bambu is not your ordinary manufacturer. While they make some of the most beautiful and innovative bamboo products around (think salad bowls, decor items, and the revolutionary bambu veneerware compostable bamboo plates) Jeff and Rachel have kept their focus on the Triple Bottom Line throughout everything they do. What is the Triple Bottom Line you ask? The Triple Bottom Line is a way of conducting business. It’s the cornerstone of corporate responsibility. It’s when a business considers the social, environmental and economic impact of their product or service and their general business practices. I’ve heard some folks refer to this as the ‘new’ standard of business. In my opinion, it’s going back to business. It’s the way business used to be and is the way it should be.
When I refer to shopping with your values, this is the type of company I highly recommend supporting. They’ve put together a video that explains their philosophy, practices and commitment to quality. I’d love for you to take a listen to the More Hip Than Hippie interview (for added fun, Dori and I ask our guests their porn star names – Jeff’s is a doozy) and of course, check out the entire line of bambu products at the bambu boutique, exclusively at Greenfeet.com
